Cystic Acne Treatment - Go by
your dermatologist
Cystic
acne breakouts are considered most painful as they leave deep
scars. Dermatologists refer this as most severe kind of acne.
Since the tropical medications do not solve the root of this
problem, the healing process of cystic acne treatment is slow.
Sometimes it is so deep that infection is trapped under the
skin.
As
regards the cystic acne treatment, it is limited to oral
medications. That is why all cases of cystic acne should be
referred to a dermatologist. The most common drug prescribed
for cystic acne treatment is isotretinoin which is also called
potent drug for cystic acne treatment. It is a man made form of
retinoid containing vitamin A. This drug comes in the form of a
pill and is perfect for cystic acne treatment. It treats
production of excess oils, clogged skin pores and
inflammation.
Isotretinoin is taken for 20 weeks and does
not require more than one course of therapy. The possible side
effects of this drug are birth defects. The doctors advise
women not to get pregnant during this drug therapy and the
patient should do regular check ups. This will detect side
effects, if any.
The
common side effects of isotretinoin are muscle aches,
uncomfortable dryness on lips and eyes, depression and chest
pain. Some of these side effects can cause serious health
problems. Before taking this, one should consult the doctor. As
for women, they use oral contraceptives as cystic acne
treatment and these contraceptives suppress overactive
sebaceous glands. In medical terminology, oil producing glands
are called sebaceous glands. These contraceptives are safe in
the long run. You can also go for some other methods prescribed
by the doctor, among them, synthetic steroids apart from
contraceptives. These steroids inhibit other harmonies that
stimulate oil producing glands.
When oral
cystic acne treatment does not work, you need drainage. This
surgery should be done only by a professional. In case you do
it all by yourself, that will only cause infection which may
last long and can be even worse. This can lead to inflammation
and swelling. The brings down the inflammation by an injection
which contains highly diluted corticosteroid . It is a painless
procedure and clears cyst in a week. This procedure does not
allow the cyst to rupture. However, dermatologists do not
recommend it because it only treats current
acne.
To take
other precautions, wash face twice daily. Reduce sweat
producing activities and do not wash skin too often as that may
cause dryness resulting in cystic acne. Avoid bursting of
cystic acne as it can produce scars. Do not touch your face
with hands and fingers. The germs in hands can cause infection
and may lead to cystic acne. Keep patience in case you have
cystic acne. Proper planning is necessary to treat cystic acne,
so abide by the dermatologist.
